About me
I am a coach with an extensive background in international development, and I understand the sector.
If you have just obtained a new job or a promotion, exploring opportunities for career advancement, transitioning careers, changing jobs, or finding your voice, I understand the excitement and growth that can come from such experiences and situations.
I have experienced the challenges that can arise in environments with a lack of representation and inclusion. I have encountered leadership stereotypes and gender stereotypes.
I have successfully managed the concurrent challenges of a flourishing career, single parenthood, and the responsibility of being a long-distance caregiver for the family while navigating the emotional weight it carries.
I have been there. I’m here to support you. You don’t have to face this on your own.
My journey spans three careers: founding a successful business in my twenties, 25 years in international development (15 in leadership roles), and coaching across diverse cultural contexts. I help clients build leadership confidence, navigate organizational challenges, and foster inclusive, positive team cultures. I have managed complex, multi-million-dollar projects, successfully coached and motivated teams, and inspired staff to reach their full potential. I have achieved positive outcomes with a proven track record of effectively leading teams, driving organizational growth, and implementing strategic initiatives.
Through my experience working in diverse cultures and countries, I have developed a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges of working in multicultural environments. I have honed my ability to communicate effectively with a wide array of stakeholders, navigating diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
I am proud of my complex intersectional identity: my mother, whose family was originally from Quebec, was born in New Brunswick and settled in Montreal. My Ethiopian father, who also had a complex journey after being uprooted by the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in 1935, spent his early schooling years in a refugee camp in Kenya and later, in 1948, attended a college in a small sundown town in the United States before eventually completing his education in Canada and the United Kingdom. I have inherited a rich, diverse, and sometimes tumultuous history.
After many years of living in different countries and extensive travelling, I returned home to Canada and am now based in Quebec. Although I live in Canada, my coaching practice is global—my clients come to me from across the world, and most of my work is conducted virtually.
I am a professional coach with credentials from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), holding the designations of Associated Certified Coach (ACC) and Certified Diversity Coach. I am also certified in administering assessments such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), EQ-3i 2.0, and EQ 360. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Quebec in Montreal and a Master’s degree in education from the University of Montreal.
